Description

Your Family Watches TV for Hours Every Day. Blue Light Adds Up.

The average Indian household watches 4–6 hours of television daily. Children watch after school. Adults watch before sleep. A 55 inch TV running for 5 hours in a family room emits more cumulative blue light than most people receive from their smartphones in the same period — simply because of the screen size and viewing distance involved.

Blue light is not a myth. It is the high-energy, short-wavelength portion of the visible light spectrum — the same light that tells your brain it is daytime and suppresses melatonin production. Television panels — LED, OLED, and QLED alike — emit blue light as a natural byproduct of their backlighting and colour reproduction systems.

Screen Guardian’s blue light filter TV screen protector reduces blue light output by up to 50%, without affecting the colours, contrast, or picture quality your TV was designed to deliver.

Who This Product Is For

Families with children Children’s eyes are more sensitive to blue light than adult eyes. The crystalline lens of a child’s eye transmits more blue light to the retina than an adult’s, and children are less likely to look away from the screen when their eyes are uncomfortable. A blue light filter protector on the bedroom or living room TV is the most effective passive protection available — it works without any action from the child.

Adults who watch TV before sleep Blue light exposure in the 2 hours before sleep delays melatonin production and reduces sleep quality. A 55 or 65 inch TV in a bedroom watched before sleep is a significant blue light source. Screen Guardian’s filter reduces this exposure by 50% — enough to make a measurable difference to sleep onset time according to sleep research.

People with eye strain or sensitivity If you or a family member experiences eye fatigue, headaches, or dry eyes after TV viewing sessions, blue light is a likely contributor. Reducing blue light output by 50% typically reduces these symptoms noticeably within the first week of use.

50% Blue Light Reduction — How It Works

Standard Screen Guardian protectors reduce blue light by 30% through their base nano-film coating. The blue light filter variant uses an enhanced coating layer that absorbs an additional 20% of the 415–455nm wavelength range — the most biologically active portion of the blue light spectrum — before it leaves the screen surface.

The result is a 50% total reduction in blue light output with a colour rendering index that remains above 95. Colours appear very slightly warmer than an unprotected screen — comparable to enabling the “warm” or “eye comfort” mode on your TV’s picture settings, but applied at the screen level rather than by altering the TV’s colour processor.

Does It Change Picture Colours?

Slightly — and honestly less than most people expect. The 50% blue light reduction introduces a very subtle warm shift that most viewers describe as making the picture look “softer” or “more natural”. It is comparable to enabling your TV’s built-in eye comfort or night mode, but more consistent and more effective.

If colour accuracy is critical to you — for colour-graded films, sports with vivid jersey colours, or nature documentaries — and you watch in a controlled-light environment, the crystal clear standard protector is a better choice. For everyday family viewing, news, serials, and children’s content, the blue light filter variant delivers better eye comfort without any meaningful change to viewing enjoyment.

Installation in Under 10 Minutes

  1. Turn TV off and let the screen cool for 10 minutes.
  2. Wipe screen with the included microfibre cloth — top to bottom, one direction.
  3. Peel the backing slowly from one corner. Do not touch the inner surface.
  4. Align the top edge of the protector to the top of the screen panel.
  5. Lower flat — static cling does the work.
  6. Smooth from centre outward using the cloth.

For 65 inch and 75 inch sizes, two-person installation is recommended.

 FAQs

How much blue light does a TV actually emit? LED-backlit TVs emit significant blue light across the 415–455nm range. A 55 inch TV viewed for 4 hours emits more cumulative blue light than most smartphones used for the same duration, due to screen size and typical viewing distance. OLED TVs emit somewhat less blue light than LED TVs by nature of their panel technology, but still benefit from filter protection.

Will it make my TV picture look yellow or orange? No. The colour shift is very subtle — a slight warmth comparable to enabling your TV’s built-in eye comfort mode. At normal viewing distances it is not distracting. If you watch with the screen in eye comfort or night mode already, you will notice almost no difference.

Is this safe for children? Yes. The blue light filter nano-film contains no chemicals, adhesives, or coatings that contact the TV’s screen surface in a way that could affect safety. It is the same static-cling PET film as our standard range with an enhanced optical coating layer.

Does it work with Samsung’s Eye Saver Mode or LG’s Eye Comfort Mode? Yes. The physical blue light filter in the protector works independently of any software-based eye comfort mode in your TV’s settings. Using both together gives maximum blue light reduction if needed, though the protector alone is sufficient for most use cases.

Can I use it with an OLED TV? Yes. OLED panels are compatible. OLED TVs already produce less blue light than LED panels, so the combined protection is particularly gentle on the eyes.

Is the blue light filter version more expensive than the standard? It is priced slightly higher than the standard crystal clear range due to the enhanced coating layer. Check the current price above.

What sizes are available? 32, 43, 55, 65, and 75 inch. Select your size using the size selector on this page before adding to cart.

My TV already has a blue light mode built in — do I still need this? Software-based blue light modes work by reducing the TV’s colour output — they shift the white balance and reduce the blue channel in the image. This changes picture colours significantly. Screen Guardian’s physical filter reduces blue light at the source — before it leaves the screen — without altering the TV’s colour processing. You get better eye protection with less colour distortion.
